DraftKings accepted live NBA bets fastest in 2026 playoff testing, at a median 1.4 seconds, and carried the widest in-game prop menu at 190 or more markets per game, according to Tech Insider's latency testing. FanDuel was 0.3 seconds slower on the same test but paid roughly 5 percent more than DraftKings on equivalent same-game parlay legs in 71 of 100 test tickets, which makes the choice between the two a trade of speed against price.
BetMGM was third on both counts, at 2.1 seconds and 160 or more props per game, and answers with tools the other two were not credited with: full or partial cash out before a game ends, per Sports Illustrated's NBA betting guide, and an Edit My Bet function that adjusts an open wager without voiding it, per OddsAssist.
The figures below come from four reviews published or updated between July 4 and September 18, 2026. Prices, promotions and market counts move; the ordering on speed and depth has held across every source reviewed.

DraftKings
DraftKings posted the fastest median live-bet acceptance of the five books Tech Insider tested during the 2026 playoffs, at 1.4 seconds against 1.7 for FanDuel, 2.1 for BetMGM, 2.4 for Caesars and 2.6 for ESPN BET. Tech Insider argued the gap matters in basketball because continuous scoring reprices live lines in short cycles, so slower books reject or requote more bets after a made basket.
Market depth ran the same way. Tech Insider counted 120 or more SGP-eligible legs and 190 or more total props per NBA game at DraftKings; The Playoffs called its same-game parlay builder the cleanest of the books it reviewed and noted quick-build shortcut buttons. OddsAssist listed race-to-X-points props for every quarter of an NBA game.
The cost is price. OddsAssist described DraftKings as carrying steeper vig than most books. Same-game parlays were 41 percent of the operator's NBA handle in the first quarter of 2026, the highest share among the three, per Sports Illustrated.
Cash out sits in the My Bets section under open wagers and covers pre-game futures and in-play straight and moneyline bets, according to SportsHandle's DraftKings review, published September 11 and updated September 18, 2026. That review rated the platform 4.7 out of 5, put the app at 4.8 stars from 846,300 iOS reviews and 4.3 stars from 175,000 Android reviews, and listed legal operation in 29 or more jurisdictions.
The welcome offer at the date of that review was bet $5 and get $200 in bonus bets, a figure that moves and is better compared across books than taken at face value. DraftKings suits the bettor who fires quarter markets and live props in the seconds after a run and cares more about getting the ticket in than about the last half-point of price.
- Fastest median live-bet acceptance tested at 1.4 seconds (Tech Insider)
- 190+ props and 120+ SGP-eligible legs per NBA game (Tech Insider)
- Cleanest same-game parlay builder with quick-build buttons (The Playoffs)
- Cash out on pre-game futures and in-play straight and moneyline bets (SportsHandle)
- Steeper vig than most books (OddsAssist)
- Paid about 5 percent less than FanDuel on equivalent SGP legs in 71 of 100 test parlays (Tech Insider)
- Android rating of 4.3 trails FanDuel's 4.6 (Fox Sports, Sept. 1, 2026)
FanDuel
FanDuel returned more money on matched tickets. Tech Insider found it paid roughly 5 percent more than DraftKings on equivalent same-game parlay legs in 71 of 100 test parlays, and credited it with the densest alternate spread and total catalogue, at 110 or more SGP legs and 175 or more props per game.
Fox Sports, in a September 1, 2026 comparison of eight books, named FanDuel's standout feature as the "best live SGP builder and intuitive in-game interface" and gave it the highest combined store ratings in the group, 4.9 on iOS and 4.6 on Android. SportsHandle, in a roundup published September 10 and updated September 18, listed FanDuel at 4.8 stars from 2.1 million iOS ratings, the largest review base among the apps it ranked.
Two FanDuel features have no counterpart in the sources for the other books. BetProtect offers injury protection on full-game player props, per Fox Sports. Lightning Bets, per OddsAssist, prices ultra-short in-game moments, such as whether two or more three-pointers are made in the next 60 seconds.
The Playoffs reported FanDuel odds refresh "quickly enough to keep pace with the action" in high-traffic games and that its SGP builder stacks points, assists, rebounds, steals and combinations. Same-game parlays were 38 percent of its NBA handle in the first quarter of 2026, per Sports Illustrated.
FanDuel suits the bettor whose live volume runs through alternate lines and multi-leg tickets, where a 5 percent pricing edge compounds faster than a 0.3-second acceptance delay costs.
BetMGM
BetMGM builds in-play markets on official NBA optical tracking data, per Fox Sports, which also named its recurring Lion's Boost daily NBA offer. The Playoffs described strong live betting with quick odds refresh and fast payouts.
On measured depth it trails. Tech Insider counted 95 or more SGP legs and 160 or more props per game, below both rivals, and 2.1 seconds median acceptance, 0.7 seconds behind DraftKings. Same-game parlays were 33 percent of its NBA handle in the first quarter of 2026, the lowest of the three, per Sports Illustrated.
Its differentiators are settlement tools rather than menu size. Sports Illustrated named the Parlay Builder and full or partial cash out before a game concludes; OddsAssist described Partial Cash Out exiting portions of a parlay mid-game and Edit My Bet adjusting an open wager without voiding it. SportsHandle also cited BetMGM, with Caesars, as a leader in alternate player prop markets, and ranked it second among mobile apps for 2026 behind Fanatics.
BetMGM suits the bettor who opens live parlays and wants to dismantle them in pieces rather than hold or dump the whole ticket.
- Full or partial cash out before a game ends (Sports Illustrated)
- Edit My Bet adjusts an open wager without voiding it (OddsAssist)
- In-play markets powered by NBA optical tracking data (Fox Sports)
- Leader in alternate player prop markets alongside Caesars (SportsHandle)
- 2.1-second median live-bet acceptance, slowest of the three (Tech Insider)
- 160+ props and 95+ SGP legs per game, fewest of the three (Tech Insider)
- Android rating of 4.2, lowest in the Fox Sports group (Sept. 1, 2026)
bet365 and Fanatics, ranked first but measured least
Neither book appears in the table because no source reviewed published latency figures or per-game market counts for them. Both were nonetheless ranked above DraftKings and FanDuel for live betting by the outlets that rated them.
SportsHandle put bet365 first for live betting in its September 2026 app roundup, citing "lightning-fast app performance" and an Early Payout feature that settles winning moneyline bets before the final whistle when a team builds a decisive lead. It called the in-game cash out "highly responsive during sudden momentum shifts." The Playoffs described its live betting engine as among the most responsive for NBA games.
SportsHandle's bet365 review, published August 26 and refreshed September 18, 2026, rated the book 4.6 out of 5, listed legal availability in 17 states, a $10 minimum deposit and a bet $10, get $365 in bonus bets welcome offer. NBA markets there include alternate prop lines and same-game parlays on rebounds, assists, points, free throws, threes and quarter-by-quarter over/unders. Live streaming needs only a funded account outside the NFL, where a $1 minimum bet applies.
OddsAssist called Fanatics "the best live betting platform" of the six books in its July 4, 2026 guide, citing a fast app during live NBA action. SportsHandle ranked Fanatics first overall among 2026 mobile apps. Neither source published market counts or acceptance times.
Speed against price, and why one app is the real constraint
The separation between DraftKings and FanDuel is 0.3 seconds and about 5 percent. Which one wins depends on bet type: a single live spread or quarter total taken during a stoppage is rarely lost to 0.3 seconds, while a five-leg live SGP surrenders the pricing gap on every leg.
Depth differences are smaller than the headline counts suggest, because all four major books carry a 15 to 25 percent hold on same-game parlays, per Tech Insider. A book with 190 props and one with 160 are selling the same product at similar margin; the extra 30 markets matter only where they include the situation being bet.
The third difference is not between books at all. SportsHandle advised comparing live odds across platforms in real time during NBA games, and the pricing tests above only exist because the same leg was available at different numbers at the same moment. Running one app caps the available edge no matter which app it is, which is the premise most in-game NBA betting strategies are built on.
Rules that apply on every app this season
Cash out carries a house margin on every book. Tech Insider put it at 6 to 12 percent against the fair value implied by the live line, and reported that sophisticated bettors take cash out in under 4 percent of eligible situations. SportsHandle's DraftKings review states plainly that the offer pays "less than the implied odds of your bet winning" and updates with the flow of the game.
SportsHandle's cash out explainer adds the mechanics that do not vary by operator: the feature exists only on online and mobile books, not at retail counters; it is reached through the live bet slip or the active bets section; not every bet type is eligible; and an accepted cash out is final.
More often than not a bettor should pass on accepting a Cash Out.
Two NBA policy changes reshape live prop menus this season. ESPN reported on a league memo to teams that would move public NBA.com injury report updates from hourly to every 15 minutes and require a resubmitted game-day injury report, except on the second night of back-to-backs, in an 8 to 10 a.m. window for tip-offs at 5 p.m. or earlier and an 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. window for later games.
The memo followed federal indictments of a current player, a head coach and a former player in gambling-related cases. Major operators have already agreed to stop offering player props on athletes on two-way contracts or 10-day deals, per ESPN, so those names will be absent from live prop menus at every book in the comparison.
Which app to open first
For a bettor placing single live bets during play, quarter lines, live spreads, race-to-X props, DraftKings is the pick on the published figures: fastest acceptance at 1.4 seconds and the widest menu at 190 or more props per game, accepting the steeper vig OddsAssist flagged.
For a bettor whose live action is same-game parlays and alternate lines, FanDuel is the pick: about 5 percent better on matched SGP legs in 71 of 100 Tech Insider tests, the densest alternate spread and total catalogue, and the highest store ratings in the Fox Sports group at 4.9 iOS and 4.6 Android.
BetMGM is the pick only for the bettor who values partial cash out and Edit My Bet enough to give up 0.7 seconds of acceptance speed and 30 props per game. In the 17 states where it operates, bet365 belongs on the phone as a second app on the strength of its Early Payout and cash out responsiveness, though no source has published latency or market counts to test that ranking against the other three.
